When is the work due to start?

Work is planned to start in April 2024 and the project is expected to take approximately 12 months to complete, in different phases.

Our team will work as quickly and as safely as possible to complete the project ahead of schedule.  Work will take place during normal working hours, although there may be some activities at evenings and weekends.

There may be a short interruption to your water supply during this scheme as we connect our new water main to the existing network and we will write to you at least 48 hours in advance if this is going to happen.

Why is this project being done now?

This is an important project to help strengthen the water network as the community grows, with the new pipeline enabling us to supply top quality drinking water to thousands of additional properties without impacting the supply to our existing customers.

What impact will this have on residents locally?

There will be some work in public highways, with roads needing to be crossed to connect to the existing water network, while all recreational users of the footpath, including dog walkers and cyclists, are set to be impacted by our work.

    Which roads will be affected?

There will be some work in public highways, with the project set to start in April 2024 in Sandy Hill Road, with work also taking place concurrently in Bourley Road and Farnborough Road.

A rolling road closure will be implemented in Sandy Hill Road while work is carried out, with two-way traffic lights in use on Bourley Road, including at the junction with Wellesley Road.

We will soon be undertaking trial holes in Farnborough Road to determine the safest method in which to undertake this section of work.

Later in the project, there will be some work undertaken in private land, which is due to commence in September 2024.

Will emergency vehicles still have access when there are road closures?

As with all our roadworks, we will always maintain access for emergency services.

Likewise with bus companies, the emergency services are briefed well in advance of any roadworks and are adept at making their own arrangements to find alternative routes. This is common practice.

Can properties and businesses still be accessed when there are road closures?

Access to properties and businesses will be maintained at all times, however there may be a short wait if we are working in front of your property and you may need to park a short distance from your property at times.

Our team on site will be on hand to answer questions and will liaise with residents, where possible, to allow movements to and from properties.

Access to businesses may be via the diversion routes or from one end of the works.

As it is a closure in sections in Sandy Hill Road, residents will always be able to park on the road, or on the driveway at their property. The direction from which you access your property may change as the work progresses.

Will I still be able to walk or ride my bike in the Site of Special Scientific Interest?

Access will be maintained for recreational use at all times, with minor diversions in place when required.

The pipeline goes through an environmentally sensitive area. What are you doing about it?

We are working with landowners, managers and regulators to ensure the right environmental mitigation is in place.

Our planning applications being submitted to Rushmoor and Waverley Borough Councils will be supported by an Environmental Impact Assessment and a Habitat Regulations Assessment.

Will the water supply be interrupted?

As the work will require connections to the existing network, there will be a short interruption in supply. We will notify you well in advance when this is due to happen if you are impacted by a loss of supply. Any interruptions would be limited to three hours.
